As we prepare....

for Henry's funeral Mass and to lay him to rest, I was compelled to tell each and every one of you that looking at my facebook Wall last night and reading the 100+ comments to my blog post Wednesday was one of the most amazing moments of my life.

You could not have touched my family and I more.

This morning my dear husband woke up and Googled Henry's name. There is page after page after page...

Those candles and comments and blog posts say to me that Henry's little life, his own special little flame, mattered.

I know he will continue to shine brightly from heaven. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  1. Oh, Carla, bless you this day. You plucked this little boy from the obscurity of a Ukrainian orphanage, where no one knew his name or even knew he existed, and he became everyone's hero, gathering more and more people to him and perpetuating so much love! Now, in his passing to Heaven, he has touched and inspired more people than most grown ups do after a lifetime! Henry was born for great things, and he achieved great things! May God bless you and the whole family as you commend him to the Lord today. Thank you for choosing Henry. And to our little famous Henry: We love you and will never forget you! Pray for us still left in this vale of tears, that we may do good work for the Kingdom!

  8. Praying for all of you. Henry helped so many children find their parents, he brought so many people together to form a community and he reminded the body of Christ of the orphans and our responsibility towards them. He had a fruitful life with a family that loved him and we mourn him.

  11. Ah, I love that photo. He looks like such a little boy, and less like a baby. A true glimpse into how far he came in your care. I don't think I've ever commented on your blog before, but I have followed along, and I can say with certainty that Henry will continue to have an impact on this world for years and decades to come!!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

  13. I've had your blog URL on my bookmark list since before you brought Henry home. I hadn't visited in a few weeks and I just stopped by to learn this!
I'm SO sorry. Words seem so inadequate.
I just realized that you've experienced every parent's nightmare...going in for an operation and having everything go terribly wrong at the end of the day. I'm just so sorry and I pray that you don't blame yourself in any way. As parents, we tend to blame ourselves, even when it's not necessary, and that can make it even more painful.
I pray your children are coping well. I'm sure this unimaginably difficult for them as well.
I'm so glad that he had a chance to enjoy the pure love that parents and siblings provide. He didn't die an unloved, forgotten orphan and that makes all the difference.
    Best,
    Madi
